The Study of Physics, Chemistry and Biology

Science is about discovery, where we learn about history, math, philosophy, ethics, communication, foreign languages and writing as seen from the lens of the scientific world. As you have heard, science is everywhere and affects everything. In fact, there is a type of science for everyone and I am happy to join you in your discovery of your favourite area of science as we journey through the topics of physics, chemistry and biology.

Chem Is Try

We are about to embark upon our study of chemistry.  Don't get to comfortable, we are still firmly within the PHYSICS realm as we begin our study of chemistry.  You see, chemistry is one of the physical sciences and physics is inescapable.
To begin with, we are going to study the simple kinetic molecular model of matter.  Our objectives for the first unit:

  • State the distinguishing properties of solids, liquids and gases.
  • Describe the molecular structure of solids, liquids and gases.
  • Relate the properties of solids, liquids and gases to the forces and distances between molecules and to the motion of the molecules.
  • Interpret the temperature of a gas in terms of the motion of its molecules.
  • Describe the pressure of a gas in terms of the motion of its molecules.
  • Describe the effect of a change of temperature on the pressure of a gas at constant volume.
As you can see, we have a lot to learn.  Look for more postings that include links to useful websites and videos that will help broaden your understanding.  To begin with, we can watch our favourite series "Eureka"  Solids, liquids, and gases.
Let's begin!
